HD Photo или JPEG XR (прежнее название Windows Media Photo) — новый графический формат, предложенный Microsoft в мае 2006 года на Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC).

Новый стандарт поддерживается операционной системой Vista, a также любой ОС с установленным .NET Framework 3.0. Он определяет цветовые форматы для печати и для отображения, кодирование целочисленной и с плавающей точкой для расширения динамического диапазона, опции сжатия с потерями и без, эффективное декодирование для многих разрешений и минимальные затраты компьютерных ресурсов для преобразования или декодирования.

В целом эффективность HD Photo довольно высока: так при 85% качестве уже практически отсутствуют артефакты. При сравнении с JPG 85% переменный, при меньшем размере файла HD Photo дает меньше артефактов.
