Document Freedom Day (DFD) is a day designed to "raise awareness about document freedom"[1] "on the last Wednesday of March".[2] Document Freedom Day was first celebrated on March 26, 2008, and is organised and funded by the Free Software Foundation Europe.[3]
According to Ars Technica, more than "200 groups in 60 countries" are actively involved in DFD.[4]
DFD's main goals are:
- promotion and adoption of free document formats
- forming a global network
- coordination of activities that happen on last Wednesday of March, Document Freedom Day[5]
In 2011 it will be held on Wednesday March 30.
