Kowloon Southern Link

Kowloon Southern Link

Kowloon Southern Link is a project to link the HK-MTR lines|West Rail's Nam Cheong Station to HK-MTR lines|East Rail's East Tsim Sha Tsui Station. Upon its completion in 2009, West Rail Line trains will terminate at the Hung Hom Station.

The project was originally proposed and carried out by Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) to link the KCR West Rail and KCR East Rail. After the company's network was taken over by MTR Corporation (MTRC) on 2 December 2007, the project was continued by MTRC.

Kowloon Southern Link has one intermediate station called West Kowloon Station at the existing site of Canton Road Government Offices. This will be an interchange station with Tung Chung Line and Airport Express at Kowloon Station.

Another proposed station by KCRC, the Canton Road Station will not be built, due to high construction cost and its proximity to MTR's Tsim Sha Tsui Station and East Rail's East Tsim Sha Tsui Station. (ETWB, 2005)
