Watercourse
The river starts as the "Upper East Lyn" at "Malmsmead" (formed by two minor tributaries, the "Oare Water" and "Badgeworthy Water") it then flows for several miles, past
Brendon and makes confluence withHoar Oak Water at "Watersmeet", whereWatersmeet House is located. Continuing on, the river is squeezed between a narrowgorge section, upon exit follows on for another 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) until the river meets with theWest Lyn River and flows into theBristol Channel atLynmouth .Recreation
Angling
Angling interests especially in the summer are targeted towards the
salmon which migrate up the river to spawn.Walking
It is popular for walkers with the
Two Moors Way near to much of the river.Whitewater kayaking
Whitewater kayakers frequently run this river in the winter when seeking a challenging Grade 4 paddle.
