Sidney is a town in Jackson Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 168 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Sidney is located at coor dms|41|6|19|N|85|44|35|W|city (41.105140, -85.743074)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²), of which, 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it is land and 7.14% is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 168 people, 62 households, and 46 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,291.2 people per square mile (499.0/km²). There were 69 housing units at an average density of 530.3/sq mi (204.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.21% White, 0.60% Pacific Islander, and 1.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.60% of the population.

There were 62 households out of which 33.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.1% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.2% were non-families. 21.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.19.

In the town the population was spread out with 28.6% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 97.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.5 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $30,000, and the median income for a family was $37,500. Males had a median income of $25,000 versus $21,750 for females. The per capita income for the town was $14,959. About 10.9% of families and 8.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.4% of those under the age of eighteen and 6.9% of those sixty five or over.
