Romanian Armed Forces ranks and insignia

These are the current Romanian Armed Forces ranks and insignia.

Branch colors in the Romanian Armed Forces

The colors depend on the service branch (in Romanian "armă", meaning weapon) the bearer is a member of. They show on the shoulder slides which hold the rank insignia, on the band of combination caps, and on collar insignia.
*Infantry: red
*Artillery: black
*Mountain Troops (or Mountain Hunters, "Vânători de Munte"): green
*Tanks: black
*Military Automobile Troops ("automobilişti militari"): black
*Anti-air Artillery and Missiles: black
*Communication and Informatics structures: black, or the color of the branch they work in
*Engineers Troops ("geniu"): black
*Nuclear Biological and Chemical (NBC) Defense: black
*Paratroopers: light blue
*Air Force: light blue
*Radar Troops ("radiolocaţie"): light blue
*Naval Forces: black
*Military Police: black
*Military Logistics, or administration ("intendenţă"): purple
*Military Medicine: dark red (bordeaux red)
*Military Music: red
*Military Justice: dark blue (however, the whole uniform is dark blue, and it has a slightly different design than standard uniforms)

NOTE: Because many different branches share a color (for example black or light blue), each branch has distinctive branch insignia (in Romanian "semne de armă"), which is worn next to the rank insignia on the shoulder slides. Other militarized institutions, such as the Romanian Gendarmerie and the Military Firefighters Corps , also have branch insignia worn in the same way.
