National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, named after the 3rd president of Tanzania, Benjamin William Mkapa. It is currently used mostly for football matches. It currently holds 60,000 people. The stadium opened in 2007. The structure cost TZS 56.4bn/-. It was constructed by the Beijing Construction Engineering Company Limited. Tanzania contributed TZS 25bn/- and China donated the rest. The Complex is according to the FIFA and Olympic Standards. It replaced the William Mkapa Stadium as the national stadium.[3]
