Banpo Symbols

Banpo Symbols

The Banpo Symbols (半坡陶符) is a name sometimes given to the 27 markings on prehistoric artifacts found in Banpo in Shaanxi, related to the Yangshao culture and dates back to 5000 BC to 4000 BC. These markings are found in some other sites of Yangshao culture in Shaanxi. Some believe the markings to be a writing system relating the Oracle bone script, but others doubt that the markings represent writing at all.
