- Hull Royal Infirmary
Hull Royal Infirmary is one of the two main hospitals for
Kingston upon Hull (the other beingCastle Hill Hospital in nearby Cottingham). It is situated on Anlaby Road, just outside of the city centre, and is run byHull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust .The site is dominated by a 13-floor high tower block which houses the majority of the wards, as well as the
Intensive Care Unit ,Pharmacy , laboratories and canteen. A 4 floor building directly connected to the back of this tower block houses theAccident and Emergency department and Acute Admissions Unit, theHigh Dependency Unit , and radiology, as well as theOperating theatre s and most of the hospital's outpatient facilities. There are a number of other buildings on the site, which includes the Haughton building, which now mostly houses wards for elderly patients, the mortuary, various laboratory and office buildings and several other buildings containing wards and other patient facilities. The site is shared by theHull and East Yorkshire Women and Children's Hospital and theHull and East Yorkshire Eye Hospital .The East Riding Medical Education Centre is located within the grounds of Hull Royal Infirmary.
The hospital has a dedicated
MRI scanning centre on site which houses threeMRI scanners: two 1.5 Tesla scanners and one state-of-the-art 3.0 Tesla scanner which is owned by theUniversity of Hull .
