Johann Michael Fischer (born
18 February 1692 ,Burglengenfeld ,Upper Palatinate ; died6 May 1766 inMunich ) was a Germanarchitect in the late Baroque period. [He should not be confused with the sculptor of the same name from Dillingen an der Donau, who lived from 1717 to 1801]He is a major representative of south German Baroque architects. He studied in
Bohemia and combined Bohemian elements with Bavarian Baroque traditions. He often co-operated with the most giftedBavaria n artists of his time, such asCosmas Damian Asam andEgid Quirin Asam ,Johann Joseph Christian ,Johann Michael Feuchtmayer ,Matthäus Günther ,Ignaz Günther ,Franz Joseph Spiegler ,Johann Baptist Straub , andJohann Baptist Zimmermann .Fischer is buried in the Frauenkirche in Munich.
