Łyna River

The Łyna (pronounced|ˈwɨna in Polish), (Audio-de|Alle|Alle.ogg; _lt. Alna; Old Prussian: "Alnā") or Lava ( _ru. Лава) is a river in northern Poland's Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship as well as in Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast.

The Łyna is a tributary of the Pregolya River, and has a total length of 264 km (190 km in Poland - making it the 11th longest river there - and 74 km in Russia) and a basin area of 7,126 km² (5,719 km² in Poland).

In historical terms, the river fell within the area of the medieval Monastic state of the Teutonic Knights established in the 13th century. The adjacent territory became later known as East Prussia, and then an easternmost province of Germany until 1945 when, in accordance with the Potsdam Conference, it was split between Poland and the Soviet Union.
