Erwin "Platiní" Sánchez Freking (born October 19, 1969 in Santa Cruz) is a former Bolivian footballer and current team manager for the Bolivian national team. An attacking midfielder with scoring range, he was a leading player for Bolivian national team both in the 1994 FIFA World Cup qualifyings and finals. He played a total of 57 international matches for Bolivia between 1990 and 2005, scoring 15 goals [ [http://www.rsssf.com/miscellaneous/bol-recintlp.html rsssf: Bolivia record international footballers] ]

He started his career at Club Destroyers, and became the first Bolivian player to play professionally in Europe when he was signed by S.L. Benfica in 1990/91, but went to play to Boavista FC in 1992 (after a season loaned by Benfica to Estoril-Praia), where he became one of their best players. He returned to Benfica in 1997/98, and went back the following season to Boavista, where he won the national championship in 2000/2001, before ending his European career there, two years later.

Sánchez is known in Bolivia by the nickname "Platini" Sanchez, after the French footballer Michel Platini. This nickname was given to him for the resemblance in his style of play to Platini, but more so for his penchant of wearing his footballing socks low as Platini did.
