Warwickshire College

Warwickshire College

Warwickshire College is a large further and higher education college spread across two counties: Warwickshire and Worcestershire, in England. It has over 35,000 students enrolled on courses across six campuses. It originally formed in 1996, when the "Mid-Warickshire College" in Leamington Spa and the Moreton Morrell Centre in Moreton Morrell merged. In a further expansion the college merged with Rugby College in 2003, followed shortly by a new campus opening in Whitnash called the Trident Centre. It then merged with a fifth site at Henley-in-Arden. Most recently, in August 2007, Warwickshire College merged with Pershore College, Centre of Horticultural Excellence, spreading Warwickshire College across two counties.

Centres

The main campus for Warwickshire College is located in Leamington Spa. It lies to the west of the town centre and is within easy access of local transport. Both the main campus and the Rugby site offer a wide range of courses. The Trident Centre was opened in 2004, and it specialises in the subjects of business, finance and car engineering. The Moreton Morrell centre specialises in agriculture-based subjects, whilst the campus at Henley focuses on sports related studies. Pershore College is the country's most prestigious place of study for horticulture and offers courses from further education right through to postgraduate qualifications. It also offers animal care, veternary nursing, mechanics and sports academies.

Moreton Hall Fire

Unfortunately in the Easter of 2008, Moreton Hall suffered from a devastating fire, gutting the hall. It is estimated to take up to two years for the rebuild of Moreton Hall to be completed. Avonbank House, on the Pershore College is also of architectural interest and a valuable asset to the local history of the town of Pershore as Moreton Hall was to the town of Moreton Morrell.
