"Verdens Gang" (directly translated: "The way of the world" or "the course of the world"), commonly known as "VG", is Norway's largest newspaper with a circulation of 309 610 copies in 2007. [http://www.mediebedriftene.no/index.asp?id=79211] It is published daily in tabloid format, and is a classic red top. The editor in chief is Bernt Olufsen.

VG Nett is Norways largest internet site with between 2.5 and 3 million unique visitors each week (spring 2008). This operations is executed through Verdens Gangs fully owned, online, subsidiary VG Multimedia. The subsidiary made a net operating profit of 40 percent in 2006, probably being one of the most successful online media operations. [http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/02/18/business/papers.php]

The newspaper was started in 1945 by members of the resistance movement shortly after the country was liberated from the German occupation of Norway in World War II. The first issue was published June 23 1945.
