History

Keypoint was initially developed in the spring of 2005 by a Pastor in Northern California, USA. It was initially called "The Visual Slide Design Studio".

In 2006, the application was purchased by Digitalsoft and became much more than just a pastor's tool. Digitalsoft (whose background is in writing custom applications[1]) took Keypoint in the to realm of the church worship presentation.[2]

Operation

Keypoint presentations consist of a number of individual pages or "slides". The slide analogy is a reference to the slide projector, a device that has become obsolete due to the use of Microsoft PowerPoint and other presentation software.

The presentation can be printed, displayed on a computer, or navigated through at the command of the presenter. For larger audiences the computer display is often projected using a video projector.

Presentations can be saved and run in any of the file formats: the 3.0 default .kpxx (presentation), or .kptx (template). In Keypoint 3.x versions, the an Open XML|XML-based file formats is used.
