OutWrite is University of California, Los Angeles' lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, (LGBT) intersex, queer, pan-sexual, fluid, and ally newsmagazine. OutWrite, formerly called TenPercent, was established in 1979 and was the first LGBT collegiate newsmagazine in the nation.[1]

OutWrite provides coverage of political and social issues and events that occur in the LGBT community at UCLA and beyond.[citation needed]

OutWrite was started by Clay Doyle, a UCLA student. The original name, TenPercent, was inspired by the research study Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (Alfred Kinsey, 1948), which found that 10% of males were predominantly homosexual.[2] The name was later changed to OutWrite through a staff petition in 2005, claiming that the title was connected to a legacy of white, gay-male-centricity within the magazine.[3]

OutWrite is one of UCLA Student Media's seven student-run newsmagazines on UCLA's campus.[citation needed]
