Brainard was born and raised in
Flint, Michigan . After high school, he attendedCentral Michigan University . He then spent the late 1980s inNew York City . He was a DJ on the countryradio station KZLA.Voice Acting
Brainard's edgy voice wins him work on numerous television and radio shows and ads appealing to a younger demographic. He is often heard in his role as the current promo voice of the
Disney Channel . In addition, he is the host of "Breed All About It " onAnimal Planet , a narrator for "This Week in Baseball ", the in-store advertising voice forWawa Food Markets , and was the "smart-aleckvoiceover dude" on the show "Maximum Exposure ". Brainard hosts the "Y'Allternative" show on Sirius New Country. Brainard has voiced hundreds of commercials for companies as varied as theUnited States Air Force , theIntel Corporation ,Pepsi ,In-N-Out Burger , countless radio stations, and many more.He is known to fans as the voice of Rotor the Walrus in the second and final season of the ABC
animated series "Sonic the Hedgehog", also known as "Sonic SatAM".Acting Career
Although better known for his voiceover work, Brainard has acted several times on television shows, often as a medical professional. He appeared as a medical student in 1993 on
Hallmark Hall of Fame 's "A Place for Annie". He also played the role of Doctor Stone in 1998 for two episodes ofSuperstation WGN 's superhero show "Night Man ". Brainard acted in an episode of theCBS show "One West Waikiki".Brainard has appeared in a few films as well. He has the first line of the Harrison Ford movie "Clear and Present Danger", has a short scene with Sandra Bullock in "The Net", and was cut out of the John Woo film "
