Pier Paolo Maggiora is an italian architect. He was born in 1943 in Saluzzo, a town in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont region, Italy. In the same year were born others important architects, like Vojteh Ravnikar, [http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giancarlo_Consonni Giancarlo Consonni] , Peter Vetsch, Massimo Scolari, Mario Botta, Peter Zumthor.

In 1949 his family moved to Turin, where he got the Master of Arts degree in architecture with Carlo Molino.

After the bachelor he collaborated with famous architects like Kenzo Tange, Alvar Aaltoand Oscar Niemeyer.

In Turin he founded in the 70s the "Studio ArchA", dealing with territorial and urban planification. He participated in the Biennale Architecture of Buenos Aires in 1998.

He planned the masterplan of the Business Park of Malpensa (with Arata Isozaki and Richard Rogers) and the Turin Health Park.

In 2004 with Daniel Libeskind, Zaha Hadid and Arata Isozaki, won the contest for the requalification of the Urban Pole of the Milan Fair (CityLife project).

At the Dedalo Minosse 2005/2006 Sixth Edition Prizes, Pier Paolo Maggiora was a member of the International Jury and participated at the round table about the commissioning project.

In 2008 he gained the contest for making the project of a big echocity in the zone of Caofeidian, in the city of Tangshan, China.

Dialogue in Architecture

In the '80s he laid down the foundations of his theory for a "Dialogue in Architecture", for the promotion of creative projects between architects and, at the same time, to restore the charm of the unitarian diversity, which has created layers over the centuries in the historic city.

His professional activity is based on this general concept of Architecture and its role in civil society, and is expressed in a big number of projects and works, where the theory is embodied in structures, masses, surfaces, facilities.

In the convergence of stimulus and information from different disciplines (ecology, anthropology, urban planning, engineering, sociology, economics, management and finance) is defined, through his whole work, the architectural synthesis where philosophical principles are called to interwine in forms and functions offered to the social fruition.

Projects

His main projects are:

* The "100 City" Project, the third city of Jinhua and the Caofeidian EcoCity in China;
* The "Green Lagoon", the new central metropolitan area in Settimo Torinese, Turin, Italy;
