Thogummi, Kovvur mandal

Thogummi is a village near Kovvur which is the mandal head quarters. It has a population of around four thousand. It has its own dedicated village panchayat office, one elementary school. The majority of the population survives on agriculture due to availability of good water resources. Major crops are Paddy and Sugarcane.

Thogummi is geographically located on banks of mighty Godavari river, but people stay 1 kilometer inside from the banks. To reach this village through train, one can drop down either at Kovvur or Rajahmundry. We should reach to this village only by road from either of these towns.It is 4km from Kovvur downtown or 8km from Rajahmundry. The nearest airport is in Madurapudi in the outskirts of Rajahmundry.Good news for people staying abroad is Jet airways announced daily flight fromHyderabad to Rajahmundry from June 15 2008.This village comes under the assembly constituency of Kovvur and Loksabha constituency of Rajahmundry.
